Jet setter couples wrapped in polyester and drenched in Bacardi swapping mates in a velour and glass decoorated penthouse suite. Wrap-around Italian designer sunglasses hiding the roving eyes of hipsters in a chic Soho walk-down. Afternoons by the pool sipping Campari and making millions with a single phone call. The soundtrack for all this can be found in The Sound Gallery. Produced by The Sound Gallery Team of Studio Two A+R man Tristram Penna, legendary Scenesters Jerry Cornelius, Lord Sinclair and Mr Willmot, and art expert Sebastian Helsinki, The Team have delved into the cornucopia of sound recordings safely stashed in the EMI Records vaults and have assembled with love and care two swank slices of sock-it-to-me now sound pop.

Swinging music has invaded the public's consciousness - it's on the television, the wireless and being gyrated to in the most happening of discotheques. Groovy instrumental work-outs, some familiar, others down right weird, have been eagerly embraced by the all-new urban sophisticate. These musical masterpieces stem from but one source, The Sound Gallery Volume One - two albums that moved your feet, soothed your brow, and loosened your clothing - however the mood took you.

The first volume of The Sound Gallery was released worldwide to great critical acclaim (five star reviews across the board and featured in many end-of-year polls) and is even lovingly referred to by its disciples as "The Bible." Dig the cool sound of The Dave Pell Singers' swinging "Oh Calcutta." Groove to the funky sounds of Mandingo's "The Headhunter" and "Black Rite." Refresh yourself with "Shout About Pepsi" by Denny Wright and The Hustlers. Soak your mind in the amazing takes by John Keating on "I Feel The Earth Move" and the always popular "Jesus Christ Superstar." Or simply join the party with the likes of Alan Hackshaw, John Cameron, Alan Parker, Paddy Kingsland and many more.

Volume Two's recordings range from the seductive - just listen to Laurie Johnson's champagne drenched "Tag", music from the Linda Thorson series of The Avengers; to the familiar -what's Valerie Singleton got to do with "The Good Word"?; to the insane - just listen to Lord Sitar (at the time rumoured to be one of the fab four) musically "enhance" the Who's "I Can See For Miles"; to the downright collectable - the first release on CD of George Martin's "Theme One" especially composed and recorded for the opening of BBC Radio One in 1967.

Both volume feature stunning cover shots of top tableau-vivant artist Mr David Cabaret, with volume two own more than just a little to Roy Lichtenstein.

For Volume Two, The Sound Gallery Team have secured a world-exclusive with the inclusion on the sleeve of a hand written poem by Peter Wyngarde (Star of the Jason King TV series), in which he tells of his admiration for Laurie Johnson, the composer of "The Jason King Theme."

Ode to L.J. from J.K.

"Laurie Johnson, laurie johnson, my son
makes many a series, probable.
Themes for champions, old & new avengers
persuaders - all exciting and impossible -
Even them that are totally improbable
he manages to invest with Emmy possibles
And entirely personal, that quite indomitable
Jason, Kingable".

Sebastian Helsinki -- A suave host in one of London's most exclusive nighteries or one of the world's top art experts? The king-like lifestyle of this jet-setting playboy with an unswaying thirst for justice (as well as other grown-up beverages) is seen here during a well-earned rest in Tangiers, where he is contemplating yet another forgery riddle (is it really Lichtenstein?), absinthe in hand.

John Keating checks the recording controls so every groovy note of his explosive, moog-infused rendition of "Jesus Christ Superstar", a highlight of The Sound Gallery, gets properly captured for future generations of music lovers to enjoy. By the way, fab shirt John! (photo taken in the '70s)

Jet-setter John Cameron whose "Half Forgotten Daydreams" provides a soothing interlude on The Sound Gallery, takes some time from a busy recording session to make sure the analog reel-to-reel tape machine works properly. By the way, marvelous ascot John! (photo taken in the '70s)

The Sound Gallery Team hard at work at EMI's Abbey Road Studios in London. Standing are Tristan Penna, the album's producer and compiler (with the nice white suit), together with co-compiler/fashion designer Patrick Whitaker (with the nice wide tie). Seated is co-compiler/DJ Martin Green (with the really nice mutton-chops). (photo taken in the '90s...really!)

Lord Sinclair and the Versatile Mr. Wilmot -- A nortorious philandering pair, frequently observed "eyeing up talent" in many of Europe's concert halls. Their appearance necessitates the wearing of dark spectacles - for Sinclair has a passion for shirts that require volume controls and Wilmot boldly prefers the slashed-to-the-waist look (worn frequently when DJing in his top London club "Department S."

The Sound Gallery Leisure Suit Defense

Versatile, comfortable, flammable. "Leisure" says it all. --Scott Metcalfe

Lapel points spread elegantly out like the wings of Jonathan Livingston Seagull...a suit that says Remy Martin, Isaac Hayes, Hot August Nights...begging for the caress of Qiana and the kiss of a gold chain. --David Smay

...because its wash-n-wear modernity guaranteed no pesky gimlet or swedish meatball stains and the 2 inch cuff perfectly symbolized what America is all about. --Gene Hopstetter

The Leisure Suit Is Making A Come Back ! Godzookes ! Jo-Jo had his technicolor dream coat, Batman had his cape, Well I have my trusty 70's mood ring and right now it's registering bright blue for poly-suits...especially with floral silk disco shirts. When I see a leisure suit kind of guy I exclaim: "You capriscious rascal! Let me be your diva dammit! Pamper me like a debutante- you say drama to me. May I tickle your tum-tum?" --Kristen Gorden
